Conversion
When you stop working or are no longer in an eligible class, or you retire, you have options available regarding your current group term life insurance.
Premium Waiver
Your life insurance coverage may include a Premium Waiver provision. With this provision, your coverage may continue without premium payments if you become disabled before a pre-determined age and the disability lasts for a pre-determined period of time.
Portability
A portability feature may be available through your plan. Portability allows you to take your coverage with you if you leave the company.
Accidental Death & Personal Loss coverage
Our Accidental Death & Personal Loss (AD&PL) coverage provides benefits if a covered person is injured in an accident or dies from the injuries. The amount of this payment is determined by a combination of factors, including your coverage amount and the type of injury suffered.
With Supplemental AD&PL, you receive extra coverage over and above your plan’s basic coverage.
The personal insurance
Not all injuries caused by an accident will qualify you to receive benefits payments. The exact types of injury that qualify will be specified by your plan, but may typically include death, paralysis, loss of speech or hearing, loss of sight, third-degree burns, or loss of limbs.
To find out more about your benefits, please review your plan’s Certificate of Coverage or contact your benefits administrator.
