Basic Life Insurance
All benefits-eligible employees receive basic life insurance coverage in the amount of $25,000 with the employer remitting the contributions. Basic Life Insurance has an Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) provision. Life insurance options.
Supplemental Life Insurance
Employees may purchase supplemental insurance in the amount of up to eight times their annual salary (maximum coverage of $2.5M). Supplemental Life Insurance also has an Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) provision.
The rates for supplemental coverage for employees are as follows:
Spouse & Child Life Insurance (formerly Dependent Life)
Spouse Life insurance allows you to purchase life insurance for your spouse or domestic partner. You are the beneficiary of this life insurance. If you and your spouse are both employees of Augusta University neither of you can be covered by Spouse Life. It is the responsibility of the employee to notify the Benefits/Data Management office of any dependent that becomes ineligible. You may purchase Spouse Life in increments of $10,000 up to a maximum of $500,000. Any coverage elected over $50,000 will require medical underwriting through Minnesota Life.
Is term life insurance good to have
Child Life insurance allows you to purchase life insurance for dependent child(ren). You are the beneficiary of this life insurance. If you and your spouse are both employees of Augusta University, only one of you may carry child life on any children. It is the responsibility of the employee to notify the Benefits/Data Management office of any dependent that becomes ineligible. You can purchase Child Life in the amounts of $5,000; $10,000; or $15,000.
Personal Accident Insurance (AD/D)
Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance provides your beneficiaries with additional financial security if you die or lose a limb or sight due to an accident. You may purchase up to $500,000 in coverage.
Employee - $0.16 per month/per $10,000
Family - $0.28 per month/per $10,000
