Exclusions and graded death benefits—limited benefits for the first two years

For death due to natural (non-accidental) causes, during the first two years, your beneficiary will receive all the premiums you paid, plus 10%. You won’t risk a penny. Your beneficiary will receive the full benefit amount for death due to an accident. For death due to natural causes, the full benefit will be paid after your policy has been in force for two years.

To be considered an accident, death must occur within 90 days of the accident that caused the fatal injury. Death is not considered accidental if contributed to by disease; mental or physical infirmity; drugs unless prescribed by a physician; poison including gas or fumes; act of war; air travel unless as a fare-paying passenger on a commercial airline.

In the event of suicide during the first two years, benefits are limited to the amount of premiums paid.
